Frequently Asked Questions

Foyer Global Health plans are designed for individuals and groups, including expatriates, digital nomads, and international employees, who are living or planning to live abroad for a mid to long-term duration (typically over 3 months). New applicants can generally join up to age 65, and eligibility is subject to full medical underwriting and the assessment of individual health history, with permanent residents in the United States generally excluded.

Foyer Global Health offers a comprehensive range of benefits structured across three plan levels: Essential, Special, and Exclusive. Core coverage generally includes inpatient and outpatient treatment, surgery, prescribed drugs, and medical assistance, along with access to services like telemedicine and second medical opinions. Higher-tier plans provide extended benefits such as preventative care, health check-ups, vision, dental, and maternity care, often with increased limits for various treatments, ensuring access to quality medical care worldwide.

Foyer Global Health offers worldwide coverage, with flexibility to choose between two main geographical regions: Worldwide or Worldwide Excluding the United States. The chosen region applies to the insured person’s future country of residence. Coverage is international, meaning it extends to your country of expatriation, your home country, and during temporary travel to other locations within your selected region.

Foyer Global Health offers two options for pre-existing conditions:

  • Full Medical Underwriting: This involves answering a health questionnaire and potentially undergoing a medical examination. Based on this assessment, pre-existing conditions may be covered with an additional premium (loaded), excluded from coverage, or in some cases, the application might be declined if the risk is too high. This provides clarity from the outset about what is covered.
  • Moratorium Underwriting: If you are 55 or younger, you may opt for a moratorium period (typically two years). Under this option, pre-existing conditions from the five years prior to policy inception are automatically excluded. If you remain free of symptoms, treatment, advice, or medication for that specific condition for the entire two-year moratorium period, it may then become eligible for coverage.

It is crucial to declare all known medical history truthfully during the application process, as failure to do so can void the policy.

Yes, premiums can increase. Several factors influence premium adjustments, including:

  • Age: Premiums typically increase as you move into higher age bands (e.g., at ages ending in 0 and 5).
  • Medical Inflation: The rising cost of healthcare globally (treatments, technology, drugs) impacts premiums.
  • Overall Claims Experience: As a community-rated policy, increases are also influenced by the collective claims experience of all policyholders within your risk pool, rather than just your individual claims history.
  • Benefit Upgrades: If you choose to upgrade your plan level or add benefits, your premium will increase accordingly.
  • Changes in Terms and Conditions: The insurer reserves the right to change terms and tariffs in accordance with Luxembourg law.

While Foyer Global Health offers lifetime renewability, ensuring you can maintain coverage, premiums are subject to adjustments based on these factors to reflect the evolving cost of medical care and the risk profile of the insured community.

For inpatient treatments (hospital stays of more than one night), Foyer Global Health can often arrange direct billing with the hospital, meaning they pay the facility directly and you don’t have to pay upfront.

However, for outpatient treatments (like doctor’s visits or most hospital visits that don’t involve an overnight stay), you will generally need to pay the bill upfront and then submit a claim for reimbursement through their client portal or by emailing the invoices to claims@foyerglobalhealth.com.
